Craft Chi

Other than purchasing vinyl decal paper, you can make clings using thick gel medium, paint and any other additives you would like to use. These clings can be stuck to car windows or electronics (any smooth surface) without gunking them up with adhesive. Here’s how I made these star clings.

Star Clings on my printer

1. Mix thick gel medium with any acrylic paint. I used gold craft paint. Also mix in additives, such as glitter or mica powders. Paint a layer of mixture onto a pane of glass and let dry. You can tell the medium is dry when it is clear. Paint a second and third layer, allowing each to dry thoroughly.

3. After thrid layer is dry, use a razor blade to gently scrape up “decal” sheet. This is so that you can easily remove the sheet after cutting your shapes.

4. Place decal sheet back down on glass and mark and cut your shapes, using a craft knife.

5. Remove excess decal sheet surrounding shapes. You can stick your decals onto anything you like without worrying about how you will scrape it off later!

This is a really neat idea! I’m moving out soon and will definately have to try this when I start decorating :)

You can also do this with any puffy paint, I liked to do it as a kid.
